    The most lather?

I am fascinated by this topic but have very little to offer other than that SL makes a huge difference and I use it at 3% for every batch. However, modernsoapmaking.com did a soap swap where everyone used the same basic formula, and each participant added a different additive that (it was...

Oh y'all, my soap is just busted. I'm so bummed.

You guys are by far the best part of my soap hobby! It was almost worth it having my soap turn out all foamed out and slimy, just because I so enjoyed reading all of your great comments! Thank you so much. I still have not decided what I'm going to do about this batch. Since the soap doesn't...

And, yes, I'm a Carolina grad too!! Bless our hearts!!! We just cannot catch a break! I can't even figure out what the situation is with the NCAA and the accreditation folks putting us on probation.

Oh y'all, my soap is just busted. I'm so bummed.

I'm amazed again and again by the amazing wealth of knowledge on this forum. My kids are home and my grandparents are in the house so I don't really have the time to write right now, but I am thinking that the CPOP method is probably part of the problem and my failure to do it correctly is the...

Oh y'all, my soap is just busted. I'm so bummed.

I was also wondering if maybe I should have used less water. I read somewhere that you're supposed to do 40% lye concentration, so that would have meant I should have reduced the water to about 20 oz, rather than 24.3 oz, based on the amount of lye that I used. If I reduce my water that low...

Oh y'all, my soap is just busted. I'm so bummed.

And, here's my recipe sheet from soapcalc, in case this will help people understand what I might have done wrong.

Oh y'all, my soap is just busted. I'm so bummed.

Any and all tough love and critiques are totally welcome here. I am desperate to start making some successful batches, and it just seems like every time I do a new batch, there are so many new techniques and new ingredients that I'm doing for the first time, that I can't diagnose what I did...

    I have found the Lard.

Yes, the farmer's market lard was a lot pricier. However, I think it was because she just came up with a price based on how I was going on and on about how I couldn't find it anywhere else. :D The farmer's market lard is clean and white, no bits that I can see. So, I think it has been...

    I have found the Lard.

At long last, I found some lard in two different places. I got some frozen lard from a local farmer at the farmer's market. And, I found some lard just sitting on the shelf in a tub (not refrigerated) at the Food Lion that is half a mile from my house (after searching at the Whole Foods...

    Where to buy lard

Just sent my request all the way to the top of the management chain at Harris Teeter! No lard for sale! What is the world coming to!!! I'm on my way to Walmart!

    Where to buy lard

I have had several false starts in trying to get some lard. The butcher at While Foods acted like I was asking for something ridiculous. I've never seen it displayed anywhere. Who can tell me where is the easiest place to get lard? Once I've done this, then I'm going to try to figure out how...

How to Make a No Tears Soap?

So for kids, I guess it needs to be a lotion bar with bubbles?

How to Make a No Tears Soap?

I was wondering if there are any tricks to help make CP soap as non-burning as possible to kids' eyes. TIA!

    Booth Critique

What a great idea, using ends as sniffer soaps!! I love the colors and the little display risers. I like those cloths you have displayed so prettily too! What are they? I have been wanting to make simple little washcloths to sell alongside soaps. Is that what it is on your table?
