Scooter, I used to live there. Yes, the Saturn Cafe is still near the Metro. Originally it used to be on the West side before it moved over by the Metro. Did you ever eat there at either location? I lived in Boulder Creek during the Loma Prieta earthquake. Later my husband & I moved to a small town just south of Santa Cruz, right off Hwy 1. My sons grew up spending their birthdays in SC every summer even when we lived closer to SF, and we all have a strong affinity to the area still, as well as many friends and family who still live there.

So you live in Santa Cruz? I lived there briefly and left just a couple weeks before the Loma Prieta earthquake. Recently I went back to visit friends who live in co-housing there, and, well, it was not the same. If I am not mistaken Saturn Cafe was near the bus stop. And Caffe Pergolesi was in an old Victorian house... and Bookshop Santa Cruz had a coffee house that I liked too. I loved the courtyard behind BSSC. Back then there was a Chinese food stand that served fried scallion pancakes, and there was a florist, and I believe maybe a French bakery... all those smells mixing with the smell of roasting coffee. Man I just loved it.
